In this episode we go over plant based frequently asked questions. This includes what to eat on a plant based diet, how to use plant based substitutes in baking and even how to keep your immune system strong by eating the rainbow.

  1. What can I do with a gorgeous bag of fresh cauliflower so I don’t lose it?
    There are so many great ways to use cauliflower such as eating it raw or in these recipes!

  2. What is the difference between Vegan, Plant Based and Whole Food Plant Based No Oil?
    Vegan refers to someone who consumes no animal products. Their reason for eating a vegan diet is due to animal suffering, environmental reasons and animal agriculture. Vegan junk food such as potato chips, Oreos or meatless/dairy free versions of animal products are okay to consume.
    Plant based is often referring to someone who does not consume animal products but has adopted this diet for healthy concerns. Fish or eating meat while dining out might occassionally be okay, but this varies from person to person. Plant based dieters rarely consume ‘vegan junk food’.
    Whole Food Plant Based No Oil refers to someone who eats plant based but also does not eat any oil. This often includes other high fat items such as nuts or avocado. The main reason for this diet is often to combat cardiovascular disease, such as Lauren did in Episode 14: How to Reverse Heart Disease and Ace Plant Based Eating.
  3. Is Tofu Healthy For you?
    Whether or not tofu is healthy is has been an ongoing debate. We believe tofu is healthy when choosing a non GMO organic brand. Tofu contains all essential protein amino acids.
  4. How do I use Aquafaba?
    Aquafaba is the bean juice in a can of chickpeas. You can use it in a variety of ways to replace eggs in baking or even as whip cream. See all the amazing things you can do with aquafaba here.

  5. How do I make salad dressing without any oil or to roast root vegetables?
    Oil free salad dressing is hard! We recommend if you are avoiding oil to omit the oil in a dressing and have your palate adjust to a more tangy vinegar taste! If you are just avoiding oil vs. nuts, try our Cashew Tahini Ranch Dressing or Vegan Avocado Dill Dressing.

  6. Are whole hemp seeds or hulled hemp seeds better?
    On a palatable scale, hulled hemp seeds called the hemp heart are most commonly consumed. You can use hemp hearts in smoothies, salads, to top oatmeal and more.   7. I have been a junk food vegan for years and then switch to plant based and now am very gassy!
    Junk food vegan or vegetarian food often does not have a large amount of fiber compared to whole foods! The body may take some time to adjust to fibrous foods, either trying small steps to increase fiber intake or combining fiber food with a healthy fat can help.
