Candied Eggnog Popcorn…do you not just love the sound of that?
It’s very Christmas-y and Elf-worthy sounding.
And it’s vegan. And gluten free. And dairy free. And you could just snack on a few pieces.
Or a whole bowl.
Growing up, we never had eggnog at the holidays. I am not sure why and I never asked.
I knew about eggnog. But it wasn’t high on my priorities to ask for it.
As a kid it’s cookies, truffles…or eggnog.
Who as a kid is gonna choose eggnog over a platter of cookies?
I believe the only time I encountered eggnog while I lived in my parent’s house was when I was in a church theatre production and we had a holiday scene that required us to drink eggnog.
Which I didn’t really care for. I think this probably went along with my intense dislike of milk though.
Then I married into my husband’s family and they are eggnog enthusiasts.
Like in the sense that they make their own eggnog from scratch.
And I will tell you, that stuff tastes pretty good (come on, you combine a bunch of fatty, sweet ingredients…and what’s not to like…). BUT it’s not so good that I sit pining away at the holidays because I want eggnog. It’s very easy to say ‘no thank-you!’ and move on.
I am seriously still at the take it or leave it.And now that I am plant based, well it’s always leave it.
That eggnog flavor though….
That got me thinking about popcorn.
Could I make popcorn eggnog flavored? Because I do love nutmeg and that is the main spice in eggnog the drink.
So here we have it a vegan, gluten free, dairy free eggnog popcorn that captures that eggnog taste but is not in any type a liquid form.

We all kinda know by now that crunchy treats are my downfall…
So bring on the crunch. No cup required.
