Have you ever grilled radishes? Well, friends, you are in for a real treat when you grill these marinated radishes and then serve them atop a garlickly kale salad! These grilled radishes with marinated garlickly kale are a plant based dinner idea you will make on repeat!
Why Grill Radishes?
Raw radishes have a sharp peppery taste but when you grill or roast them, it softens the peppery bite and makes them sweet and mellow! I love that grilled radishes are crispy and savory tasting.
Radishes are a root vegetable and are often served raw atop salads. They also make a great addition to vegetable platters and are a perfect healthy vegan snack when served with dips such as our oil free hummus.
While both of those ideas mentioned above are a great way to serve radishes, I have always found that when radishes are raw they are a bit peppery for my tastebuds! My husband on the other hand, loves peppery tastes and I am sure would love to have these served on his salad every night. To each their own style when it comes to consuming radishes!
Because raw radishes are a bit peppery for my taste, I decided to grill them one night and I fell in love with how the radishes go from tasting peppery to tasting sweet, mellow and slightly smokey from the grill taste. I also love how they add a beautiful pink color alongside other grilled vegetables!
Marinated Garlickly Kale Salad
I love serving these grilled radishes with marinated garlickly kale salad! The sweet basil in the marinated radishes pairs well with the oil free garlic tahini dressing in the kale salad for a wonderful plant based dinner salad!
Why marinate kale?
I will only eat my kale after it has been massaged with salt and marinated in dressing for a few hours! Kale is a fibrous lettuce and while that contributes to its great health benefits, it also makes it super tough to consume. I massage the kale in this salad using the same method I use in our Massaged Kale Salad with Pumpkin Tahini Dressing.
First you will need to wash and destem your kale. Place the washed kale in a large bowl and using kitchen scissors, chop it into small pieces. Next, sprinkle lightly with salt and massage the salt into the leaves. Whisk together your tahini dressing, pour your desired amount of dressing over the chopped and lightly salted kale and massage the dressing into the kale! The garlickly tahini oil free dressing will absorb into the kale leaves while it marinates in the refrigerator – so use more dressing than you think you need!
I love to prep this kale salad in the morning for dinnertime. I have also prepped it the night before! The great thing about kale is that because the leaves are so hearty you can eat this as leftovers! Most salad greens you would not want to leave the dressing on for more than a few hours.
I love this easy oil free garlickly kale dressing! It adds tons of flavor to the kale salad and paired with your grilled radishes it is a perfect seasonal plant based recipe.

How to Serve Grilled Radishes with Garlickly Kale Salad
I love this easy summertime plant based dinner! With a little prep in the morning your garlickly kale salad is ready by dinnertime. Grilled radishes take only 10-15 minutes on the grill! I love to use my grill pan to cook vegetables on the grill. The holes in a grill pan circulate the heat from the grill ensuring that your grilled veggies get tender and crisp.
I love to serve these grilled radishes and marinated kale salad with roasted butter beans, fresh carrots, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. This is a great light dinner and leftovers make for a great lunch!
If you want to make this dinner heartier, grill additional vegetables and or tofu! It would also be great paired with a vegan potato salad, find a great roundup of 21 plant based potato salads here.
I love how kale salad is still great even with dressing on the it, the next day! I hope you enjoy this seasonal vegan grilling recipe.
